Family House D | Prague 2020-2021

We collaborated with amazing clients J&W, Pavla Knelleken, Olga Gorobinskaya, and all other involved people. Together, we created this family home in 2020/2021.

Thanks to the house’s layout, the interior design required built-in and atypical solutions to meet the client’s needs. Due to the size of the space, it was necessary to combine functions and devise non-standard solutions. Although it is a new building, the process was often similar to reconstruction. After the handover from the developer, demolition was also necessary and some of the proposed changes were no longer possible.

Through the basements underground garage and also from the streetlevels main entrance you can enter into the building. At the main entrance, you will find another small room hidden behind two built-in doors. You can park, for example, a baby carriage there. When you open the doors they disappear into the wall cladding. The Spa area was created afterwards in the basement. It features an unusual swimming pool under the main staircase. It also has a sauna, sunlit meadow, and a sofa bed to relax.

Overall, the house is dominated by a staircase, which is close to an elevator. Areas in front of the stair landings are used as a library or meditation corner. You reach the roof terrace with a beautiful view on Prague by using an underlit built-in cabinet staircase. This staircase is in the dressing room of the master bedroom and is also used for storage. The client literally flies in the clouds. As a result, the theme of the sky and flying intertwines throughout the interior design.

All floors are connected by the client’s favorite materials. A turkish travertine, refine oak wood surfaces, special wallpapers, toned glasses and natural fabrics to name a few.

Shelves in the kitchen, living room and guest room are made of special HPL boards. Mostly they are complemented by LED backlighting to give a unique atmosphere in the evening and at night. All rooms are artistically complemented by high quality lightings e.g. from Brokis and Deltlight. Also handles from M&T and costum made furniture fittings complet the rooms.

Even small furniture in the living room is custom-made. The black nero assoluto granite is used for the kitchen worktop, window sills, and coffee tables. The house’s color palette does not follow bright color trends but shows the client’s fondness for natural stone and wood.
